It turned out to be a sunny day (!) after all as we walked around this little town to see what it has to offer. Here’s a few pictures from today.
Intermission
Still at Orren Krouwi . I lost interest in the today’s F1 race after Kimi’s back wing blew off. Today has been tourist day in Nystad. We have seen the Bonk museum, The loadsman (or pilot) museum, the old church and a shop in the wharf.
The captain of the boat bought a new seamap of the area. We had kind of double trouble getting into Nystad. First the plotter didn’t have maps of the area and then it turned out that compared to our map, the navigable channel had changed somewhat regarding markings and position. At least now we have the latest available map.
The weather seems to be getting better. We have had the first glimpse of the sun in 48 hours and the forecast for tomorrow is good. If the winds prove suitable, we’ll try to go and see Enskär (Isokari) tomorrow.
F1
Formula racing on the telly gives us a good reason for some refreshments.
Taking a walk
Got to see the Bonk museum and other tourist attractions.
Day six
The short appearance of the sun yesterday must have been a glitch in the weather system, since this morning it’s all gray again. There’s a bit of wind too, but no rain. I wonder when the others will wake up… (the image below is showing the waking up status one hour after the original posting)
Uusikaupunki rocks
When we were returning from a boring night out, we heard the sound of rock. pni decided that he was tired. Two of us started heading towards the sound. We almost entered a karaoke bar but realised that the sound was bouncing around the houses nearby.
After a bit of sound-orientation we found the source of rock in Nystad. A nice looking inner yard where half of the town was digging a cover band. We enjoyed Stray Cats and Elvis among other things.
This, the thirteenth largest town in Finland, seems like an extremely quiet town. The sun was visible for a moment, but very few of the 16700 inhabitants are out, or maybe everybody we’ve met are out of towners.

There we are
We’re safely in Uusikaupunki (Nystad). Now for the traditional one.
It went crazy
As we ran out of our digital map today, the electronic wunderkid went a bit nuts. Showing only very rough information, the plotter claimed we drove over land. Which we didn’t. We weren’t even close.
